One of the reasons why many shoes are uncomfortable and can cause injury over time to the wearer is that manufacturers cut corners by re-using old lasts with new heels that are not properly balanced to keep up with changing fashions.
At Gwendolyn Carrié, we invest a significant amount of time working with each of our separate input suppliers (the last, heel, innersole and sole manufacturers) to ensure an ergonomically-sound structure.
Our craftsmen work entirely by hand and utilise a specially developed padding in all our shoes for real comfort. In addition, we achieve comfort through carefully-considered design choices and investment in several stages of trials on prototypes through to developed sizes to ensure that our shoes properly hold the foot in place.
Another important element of our design philosophy is the use of only natural materials, avoiding synthetics on the upper, innersole and the sole to allow the foot to breathe. Our signature fish skin leather in its fluffy form is durable and hardwearing yet beautifully elastic and soft and we use the finest quality leathers and genuine exotics that stretch and give with wear for long-lasting comfort.
