Patent

No longer reserved for dance shoes and tuxedos, patent leather has now become a staple of our shoe collections, and so it should be! It's shiny, slick finish covering a leather is great for day, evening, winter and summer and what's more it's very easy to care for.

To clean it, just a damp cloth and a little soap will do. You can also purchase a patent leather protector and cleaner from most cobblers which will help prevent the shiny surface from cracking. This can be applied once the shoes have been cleaned in order to preserve its shine and get rid of any residing grease marks.

The golden rule when it comes to patent leather is all about storage. In order to prevent colours transferring onto the patent leather, be sure to keep them in cloth bags and away from other patent items, as the colour can transfer and once a dye or ink has penetrated the surface it will be there forever unfortunately. So keep them away from all potential risks, such as pens, dark shoe polishes and patent shoes and accessories.
